Maryland Real Estate Commission Meeting – April 22, 2026

Below is a recap of items covered at the Commission’s April business meeting, including the CE late completion fee effective date, the Disclosure and Disclaimer form comment period, the Advertising Checklist posting, exam related updates, and supervision reminders.

New Continuing Education Late Fee

The regulatory proposal adding a fee category for late completion of continuing education took effect on April 27, 2026. With this regulatory change, licensees who are late completing their CE when renewing will now be charged the new $75 fee rather than the full $168 Reinstatement of License Fee.

Disclosure and Disclaimer Form

The revised Disclosure and Disclaimer form was published in the Maryland Register on March 20, 2026. Due to a technical issue with the embedded form link, the public commentary period was extended through April 30, 2026.

Advertising Checklist Update

The Commission reported that the updated advertising checklist has been approved and is now available on the MREC website. Click here for the Advertising Checklist.

PSI Exam Question Updates

The Commission is working with PSI to review existing exam questions and field new questions in the testing environment. The Commission and PSI will review how the new questions perform before adding them to the scored question pool.

Unlicensed Assistants and Contract Forms

The Commission highlighted broker oversight responsibilities when unlicensed assistants help prepare transaction forms. Unlicensed staff may type contract forms only at the direction of and subject to approval by the supervising broker, and brokers should review forms before they are sent out, particularly where paperwork is being circulated as fully executed when it is not.

Commission Operations, Outreach, and Licensing Snapshot

Executive Director Scott Lederer shared that he is continuing outreach with local associations and brokerages and plans to keep accepting invitations to speak. Brokers may invite him to present to their office by contacting the Commission.

Next Meeting

The next Commission meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20.
