Committee Reports Education Committee Report The Education Committee shared that it met briefly in November to discuss preparations for its January meeting with PSI related to exam questions and testing processes. Legislative Committee The Legislative Committee met and discussed several ongoing and potential initiatives. Topics included the anticipated release of the updated Disclosure and Disclaimer form and identifying future legislative initiatives for consideration. Current areas of focus include fingerprinting and criminal background check requirements and the licensing property managers; however, these discussions remain preliminary as the committee continues its work. Advertising Checklist Update The Advertising Checklist Taskforce has met multiple times and is finalizing proposed revisions. An updated and modified Advertising Checklist is expected to be presented to the Commission for review and potential approval at the January meeting. Regulatory Updates Counsel provided an update on several regulatory proposals currently moving through the process. The proposed regulatory change updating the Broker Supervision course requirement from three hours to one and one half hours was published in the Maryland Register on December 1. The proposed changes to the Commission’s fee schedule, including the continuing education late fee and the CE course approval fee, were published in the Maryland Register on December 12. Barring unforeseen issues, the Commission is expected to take final action on these proposals at its January meeting. Counsel also shared that the proposed revisions to the Disclosure and Disclaimer form are anticipated to be published in the Maryland Register on January 23. Once published, the public comment period will begin, with final Commission action anticipated later in the spring. Commission Operations CE Class Evaluations The Executive Director shared that the Commission is working with the education department to revisit student evaluations for continuing education courses, following recent legislative changes affecting instructor approval. In the past, evaluations were prepared on behalf of MREC for required classes. Going forward, the Commission is considering expanding evaluations to all continuing education courses.
